We invite all graphic novel and manga readers to stop by the Teen room to check out our new additions to graphic novel series. From fighting evil to enforcing justice (Sailor Moon), to collecting and devouring souls (Soul Eater), to being thrown with no escape to an eternal prison (Pandora Hearts), to investigating the disappearance of a school keeper (Nightschool), these graphic novels will keep you on your toes with their suspenseful tales.

Author Suzanne Collins

Since 1991, Suzanne Collins has been busy writing for children’s television. She has worked on the staffs of several Nickelodeon shows, including the Emmy-nominated hit Clarissa Explains it All and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo.

For preschool viewers, she penned multiple stories for the Emmy-nominated Little Bear and Oswald. She also co-wrote the critically acclaimed Rankin/Bass Christmas special, Santa, Baby! Most recently she was the Head Writer for Scholastic Entertainment’s Clifford’s Puppy Days, and a freelancer on Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!

While working on a Kids WB show called Generation O! she met children’s author James Proimos, who talked her into giving children’s books a try.

Thinking one day about Alice in Wonderland, she was struck by how pastoral the setting must seem to kids who, like her own, lived in urban surroundings. In New York City, you’re much more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole and, if you do, you’re not going to find a tea party. What you might find…? Well, that’s the story of Gregor the Overlander, the first book in her five-part fantasy/war series, The Underland Chronicles.

Her next series, The Hunger Games Trilogy, is an international bestseller.

At present, Suzanne is at work on a picture book with James Proimos.

She currently lives in Connecticut with her family and a pair of feral kittens they adopted from their backyard.

The books she is most successful for in teenage eyes are the Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. These books have won several awards, including the GA Peach Award.

Lately there have been quite a few blockbuster hits at the movie theater. Some of these action packed feature films are actually based on young adult books. They are getting lots of attention too. Hilary Duff

On October 12, 2010, Simon & Schuster published Duff’s first novel, Elixir co-written with Elise Allen. The book, aimed at young adults, has since been released internationally and has become a New York Times best-seller. The sequel to the book, titled Devoted was released in hardcover on October 11, 2011. Duff also plans to release a non-fiction book in 2012 based on children coping with divorce.

Teen Central includes 10 computers and one networked laser printer with color printing available. These computers feature many software packages including programs as Microsoft Office Suite 2007 which include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. Computers are restricted to patrons 12 through 17 years old.
