Who is Michael Dahl?

He is the author of more than 100 books for children and young adults.

So, what does he write?

He has written The Everything Kid’s Joke Book and Gotcha Covered! (with Kathleen Baxter for Libraries Unlimited) on nonfiction books that get kids excited about reading. His Finnegan Zwake mystery series published by Simon & Schuster won raves.

What’s his favorite kind of book to write?

He loves to write mysteries His five-book Finnegan Zwake mystery series published by Simon & Schuster won rave reviews. He also wrote a creepy series called The Library of Doom and another called Dragonblood.

Has he won any awards?

His nonfiction has won the AEP Distinguished Achievement Award three times. Not once, or twice, but three times! His Finnegan Zwake books were shortlisted for the Edgar and the Anthony Mystery Awards twice.

What else does he do?

He speaks at schools, libraries, and conferences across the country on graphic novels, mysteries, and books for boys, and has been a featured speaker at ALA, AASL, NYAEC, TLA, NOLA, EncycloMedia and IRA.

And where does he live?

In Minneapolis, Minnesota. In a haunted house.

Seriously?

That’s what the previous owners told him. The house is haunted by a woman named Helen who currently resides in the basement, in the former coal room.

Dahl has even seen the shadow of a person walk down the upstairs hallway and into a bedroom. While he was alone in the house! And it was not his first encounter with a ghost.

What else does he like besides dead bodies, ghosts, graphic novels, and mysteries?

He likes asking questions.
